Why this word?
The csardas, also spelled “czardas,” is the national dance of Hungary. It has a historical tradition of being a part of a couple’s courting ritual. Couples start out slowly, and then build to an exhilarating fast crescendo, all while improvising on the basic steps of the dance. Hungarian composer Franz Liszt used the csardas as inspiration for his “Hungarian Rhapsodies.”
